Following some positive comments by Geoffrey Crawley in the AP some time ago, I've wanted one of these as I've always felt that the Canon EF 24-105L is simply too large for a smallish body like my 5D. I was lucky and found one advertised in mint condition with box and hood etc. just before Xmas 2008, so I ordered it, and haven't been disappointed.

Whilst I will still choose prime lenses for critical work, I no longer feel that my day to day results are compromised. On the way I turned down several Mk I samples where the finish was scuffed, and it does seem as though the new finish is a big improvement.
