London to Brighton Mini run 2006 – Survived, just!

Having a busy week this week it seems, I have yet to un-pack my Mini from coming back from London to Brighton! So, I’ll keep this a bit short.

London to Brighton Mini run 2006 was awesome, as always, although not as good as last year. The weather wasn’t all that great throughout the weekend although it could have been worse I suppose. Had a bit of a near-death experience on the way from London, on the A23 my throttle cable decided to stick full open (flat out) and I couldn’t pull the throttle pedal up. Nearing 90mph, I turned the engine off, put it to neutral and turned it back on hoping it would sort itself out. But not – meaning valve bounce! I turned her off again and was rapidly approaching a lay-by, I quickly pulled in and after a lot of swearing & getting wet from the rain & motorway spray I disconnected my choke cable from the choke & connected it to the throttle linkage. Getting used to driving the car using the choke was a nightmare, but we managed the 10-15 miles to Brighton using it!

Besides that, not much else to say. I took a fair few photo’s, but I have yet to process and upload them to the galleries. Look later this week, and something should be there!

Update: Did my photo’s, and I’ve uploaded them all to the galleries so take a look at my London to Brighton Mini Run 2006 photo’s here! Not bad photo’s considering the weather!

Hi, some nice pics. None of my mini tho :( we were parked pretty much behind you guys at crystal palace. We had two blue minis. One P reg cooper. and a G reg city. My blue city was parked near that Mk2 cooper in the custom class in brighton. Shame about the bad weather, i didnt really bother cleaning mine too much for the comp. Hope its better next year. Oh and were you guys playing volley ball with a tennis ball? Nice One.
    Chris.

Pop over and say Hi to me when/if you ever spot me / my car again! Im going to Mini in the park, Nurburgring trip, etc. Most big ones!
