My girlfriend has started working again on the weekends where she used to, near Fareham, which is great since I’ll get to see her at least one whole day on the weekend. It also means I get the opportunity to drop her off at work (very early in the morning) and take my old-man’s early morning drive back home. A steady potter through the countryside to wherever my car takes me, via places like Wickham, South wick, West Meon, Worlds End, and various other places.
So anyway, this Sunday I dropped her off at 8am and began my steady potter back home. I’m not entirely sure where I went, but I got lost somewhere north of West Meon. Its quite a detour, via West Meon back to my house (some 10-odd miles), but it was worth it and since I had my camera on me, I couldn’t resist taking a few photos.
The Bluebells on the side of the road were great, although I should have defiantly taken more time over this shot.
Further up along this quiet single-track road was a small section of the hedge which had been destroyed, and remaining was this old fence. A couple of old wooden poles, and some old barbed wire which was loosely wrapped around. Looks like a 10 minute repair job by the local farmer, maybe.
The barbed wire was an ideal subject to test my lens’s shallow depth of field again. I used my Canon 70-200 f4 L for all of these shots and it still never fails to impress. Incredibly accurate focusing, sharp and beautiful Bokeh.
Finally, heading back toward Portsdown Hill I drove over a small stream which was asking to be photographed. If you’re in a car, its often very easy to miss such natural beauty. Driving slowly, with the windows open, on a nice sunny day, through the English countryside can’t be beaten.
