A weekend and my photos

Keep missing time to update this website of mine, its not good. A fair bit has happened over the weekend, and as usual I’ve taken my fair share of photo’s.

First off, went camping with the Mini Club on Saturday night and Sunday morning and it was great. Had a bit of a laugh and five of us decided that we were going to do an "all-nighter", and we did – well just about! The night involved sitting round the camp fire getting rather drunk and chatting about random stuff, and getting cold. I also seem to remember something about a Japanese… sorry won’t go there!

Then last night (Monday night) Graham, me and Adam decided to go for a night drive and a long time exposure photo shooting around Portsmouth and Cosham. All the photo’s I took came out pretty well…

Take a look at all the photo’s right here.

I used a function on my camera properly for the first time during the night, which is something known as Mirror Lockup. In short, Mirror Lockup is used to prevent camera shake from when the mirror flips open upon the shutter opening. When the Mirror Lockup function is used, the mirror moves up into position when you press the shutter button first, then you press the shutter button a second time to begin the exposure.

Now, when used in conjunction with the self timer; basically set up the camera and get the focus correct, press the shutter button once and you’ll hear the mirror lock into position, at the same time the self timer beep will begin and about a second later the camera will begin exposing automatically, with no touching of anything. This is great since it means you can take long time exposure night photo’s without touching the camera at all and without having a remote shutter release.

However, the only downside is you can’t expose for longer than 30 seconds since I don’t (yet) have a remote shutter. Soon though, soon!…
