Lightning strike on Hayling Island – 11th October 2006

This morning, just after I got into work, we saw a massive downpour of rain, lightning and thunder! It was awesome, and I was kicking myself I didn’t bring my tripod since it would have been dark enough to set the camera up for a BULB exposure for a good while to capture some of the action.

Anyway, soon after the storm had passed we got reports of a house which was struck near-by on the Hayling.co.uk Forum which is one of the largest sites we’ve made at work, and one that we maintain on a daily basis.

I was volunteered to go down and check the damage out and to snap a few photo’s with my camera. The house was pretty badly damaged, the lightning hit the boiler in the roof which melted instantly. Luckily no one was injured and no one was in the house at the time.

Here’s some of the photo’s I took

Nice, I gathered! Been offline all day. Get some hosting from elsewhere, on a nice fast server which has multiple backup. Like mine! :)
