Observe that Ford

Last night me and my mate Adam went on a rally – or navigational exercise / practice rally drive if you like – and I think we did really excellent. We kept near the Denmead area and covered roughly 40 miles of single track gravel roads in just over 1 hour, which of course means to say that I kept up near on 40mph as an average speed!

Anyway, as a general rule (at least in Hampshire or the Denmead area) the small white roads are off-limits to rally cars! For sure! We tried 4 different “small white roads” marked on my Landranger OS map, all of which were deep muddy farm tracks! As pictured below:

Also, when you notice this sign (which doesnt say “unsuitable for motor vehicles” – I couldn’t find any other photo of a Ford sign!)

Before entering at speed, observe the depth of the ford (or in this case, river!). We managed to find one which must have been over 12 inches deep, and I went through it at about 30-ish mph! No problems car-wise at all, nothing broke, no hesitation or miss-firing at all, only thing is that I forgot to screw down my gear stick gaiter properly, and since that was underwater for a split second, me & Adam got a mouth full of water & a few inches deep of water in both footwells! Great fun, although I must seal that off for future rallying!

Andy you wonder why you’ve got squeeking noises coming from your wheel assembly??? ;)

:) yeh, but its OK. Its to be expected from the rough treatment which my car takes on nav-exercices & rally stages.
