I haven’t had a great deal of time to update either this site (my new site – but at the moment in development) or my current site with anything. I gotta make sure this site gets uploaded soon, but anyway…
As you may or may not know, my car was due for its MOT, and hey presto I put it in for its MOT at a local garage. It failed on top & bottom swivel joints, track rod ends, no horn, broken number plates and white (should be orange) front indicators.
Fair enough…
Ive played with the horn long enough, and I don’t know why it don’t work, but I fixed the number plates and indicator bulbs and put it back in to get the rest of the stuff done at the same garage.
5 days later, I hear its all ready and to be collected, after being told its had 2nd hand track rod ends fitted! 2nd hand? What? Why? … Okay, never mind – i thought – at least its done. I picked it up from the garage and drove to work. She was running like shit, not sure why. When I finished work I traced the problem to be a knackered spark plug, so I went to Halfords and bought myself a new one, got back and fitted it to my car and whey hey, it worked. Cool.
Mini meeting on the Hill in about an hour, so half hour after that I left my house off to Portsdown Hill to meet my chums. As I got to Hayling bridge a HUDGE klunk under the car somewhere happened. I didn’t know what it was, but I didn’t stop. I continued cautiously… I got to Havant roundabout and decided to go straight on at the traffic lights. I pulled away normally and KLULK a HUGELY loud sound from my gearbox!
I pulled over and wasn’t happy. I wasn’t sure what it was. I phoned the AA and after about an hour of waiting he came, jacked the car up and told me it was the inner cv joint drive shaft had fallen out & exploded! I wasn’t too pleased. I got a recovery truck to pick me up and deliver my car back to the garage for them to find it the next day.
The next day came and my Dad went down there, explained what happened and asked for a refund or to fix it for free. They did NOT accept it at all! I wasn’t pleased and neither was my Dad. Anyway, managed to at least get a free recovery truck to take my car back to my house (at least).
So currently, my car is up on axle stands with no nearside hub at all, drive shaft out & pot joint removed, awaiting new drive shaft & pot joint! What a hassle, and I’d like to announce:
Thank you please.
And after getting it home and on the jack, I took a pic of the problem…
Have you got a picture of what a decent one should look like for comparison? I can’t get a clear image of this in my head and I ain’t going crawling under the car to look!
Lol. Fair enough. Indeed Ill go crawling under my car t’night and take a piccie of my new drive shaft, pot joint & inner cv!
