Photos from Goodwood Revival Meeting 2006

I went to Goodwood this Saturday to see the Goodwood Revival Meeting. It was a fantastic day out, although the weather was well against us, but I managed to really use my camera for what it’s intended for!

I think I took some pretty good shots, while also playing about with various settings such as going from "sports mode" to Programme mode and choosing my own shutter speed, which made a load of difference to the effect of the photo. Take a look at the photos below, for example.

This one was taken on sports mode at 1/800th second shutter speed. As you can see the background isn’t very blurred and makes the shot seem somewhat lacking in the sense of speed.

However, the one below was taken on the Programme mode at a shutter of 1/100th second. The background is now heavily blurred, as well as part of the car, which adds a huge sense of speed. Awesome…

A few tips to note when using the P mode for this type of thing is that I used AI Servo as the Auto Focus mode within the camera menu. This means the camera will constantly keep re-focusing so long as the shutter is half-depressed. A good way of insuring that the subject (the car in this case) is always in focus. Remember, its coming toward you all the time, so inevitably it will quickly go out of focus as it draws nearer.

Nice pics, shame about the advertising sprayed all over the posts.

Sorry bud, if that’s the final location of the google ads then I’ll probably stop visiting. I don’t like them at the best of times. In the sidebar I can just about handle, but twice in one post? Do you not think that’s a little excessive?

Hm, yes possibly. I will have to think about it further. I’ll see how much income it brings in, but I am guessing not a lot! They will probably go soon.

If thats your view, then its probably 90% of other peoples views too – point taken :)

I stopped ad sense completely and started doing the more personal deal with businesses, i have put two links on my site which are put there for a fixed rate at £120 a year which is far more than what i got when i was with google adsense.

Although, there’s not anything wrong with making a bit of ol’ dosh from your blog.
