Only difference was that there were no links in this email at all! They said please go to to the "My eBay" link on ebay.co.uk, but it wasn't linked, it just explained what to do. It sounds like you were a victim of phishing. I've been told that if ever you receive strange emails from ebay or paypal, you should not respond to them but forward them to ebay/paypal support and you should never click on the links in the email because they lead to "dummy" sites that look exactly like the real thing, only tuned to get your personal information.
